American Idol – Day 3

All’s well that ends well, and this certainly did. I put in a 15 hour shift, bringing my total for the last three days to an even 40 hours on my timecard. Needless to say that’s why I am writing this the following day.

The auditions were very interesting to watch, though it took forever to get going even after people were inside and seated. They did some whole-crowd-sing-a-long type stuff, then came the looooong process of having each and every contestant filter down onto the floor by section. My task was to take release forms and make sure people had signed them before they touched the arena floor, and somehow I avoided paper cuts despite handling thousands of sheets almost non-stop all day. Also got to walk around and listen to the auditions a bit as I was on the floor the whole day, so that was cool.

I stayed behind after everything was said and done to help load out any leftover items from the production office, and it was nice to see things quieted down and be able to chat with the people in charge for a bit. All in all I had a good time doing this, and will certainly see about working some more whenever they come back through town for the next stage of the competition.

Now if you’ll excuse me…I’m going to go sit down all day. For your viewing pleasure I submit this rare photo taken by a hidden camera – only a few people have ever seen me in this state!
